Minas Tirith update and more

Hi all, as Kaemon mentioned yesterday, it’s time to post some news of Minas Tirith.

The map isn’t dead (at all), but it’s huge, detailed and with many special features, so it needs some time. So far the physical structure and layout (playable path) are done, as most of the skybox; those last days I had been working on the items and I have done most of them… But there is still a lot of work (many triggers and more), this sure was a map to build between two or more people…

Finally I decided to forget about the whole idea of “Hold Positions” with “Variable Times” depending on how good the humans are defending for many different reasons, not only it would be confusing but I can imagine people exploiting it (like never-ending holds against low number of zombies zombies, or letting the first zombie go in on purpouse so you can continue fast).
Anyway, I thought about many things that I wanted to make with this map, and discussed some others with Kaemon. A nice example of what’s going to be different within its game style: doors wont close and open magically, there is a door and a gate (for example) and some human must go press a lever in a room, but it takes like 10 seconds to arrive and 10 to open it: Result? A “Hold Position” of 20 seconds if the humans don’t slack going to open it, while others cover.

And about the “Hold Positions” themselves… I keep my words: there aren’t going to be any static barricades in the map, check this video, it explains the system very well πŸ™‚

 

Edit: I forgot to say, that the secret items will be available for humans of lvl 5 , and not lvl 4 as I said. One per each team, and… secret :D. Who will be the first to win 5 rounds as CT at the same game? I don’t know, but he will kick all zombie or CT asses.

    Sweet guys! But the ladder should be breakable, and the person who picks it should have it parented on his back don’t you think? So that humans can see who has it, or it will be very unbalanced and unfair…

    Once you release this map, Zombie Escape would become like what it was before the big css update. No Pressure, but this map could make ZE one of the more popular mods in CSS again.

    Oh, another thing! Why not putting an env_hudhint, thats triggers on someone who is on the edges warning him to go back? :d Avoids newbs getting knifed. :d

    You can see the items on the back of who is carrying them (Ladder, Supply Barrel, Explosibe Barrel, Shield and Armor, Moral Flag, etc…)
    You just don’t see it in the video, but its pretty visual who’s carry what.

    Hannibal is kinda sick of maps helping people to play (or learn to play). If they don’t know, they will get yelled at and probably will learn for the next round >:)

  9. Yea, as Kaemon says, you can spot all zombie items carriers easily (they are carrying big visible props on their back), I will put something for the item carrier, to know if the item is available.
    Moreover, the ladder carrier has a total functional ladder on his back, so zombies can climb faster than ever with nice teaming.
    And yes, both ladders are breakable (400 hp one, and 1500 the ladder on his back)

  16. Teh zambies are flammable, firetime is between 1sec to 10sec depending on the flame intensity.

    If it keeps ‘crashing’, hold the Ctrl key pressed, and press F5 while Ctrl is still being pressed. That will download the video again instead of playing the saved and ‘crashed’ one.
