ZE Predator Ultimate V2 – RELEASED! Predator-Ultimate World Challenge begins!

EDIT: Edited one rule for the World Challenge that was badly explained. Luffaren PREFERS the demo to be from a espectator following the main group (it’s easier for him to see and laggs less), but is NOT a MUST.

So… After a long wait, the Predator Ultimate World Challenge begins!
(You can check the info also on the Zip’s README, our “Predator World Challenge” section on top of the Blog, or the “DevRoom” (Brown Floating Room) in the map itself)

Luffaren needed/wanted the map to be polished and fixed before starting the challenge; and that took longer than expected… But it’s finally here!

The version for entering the challenge must be V2, wich was released yesterday on Gamebanana and many servers are playing already. As always I bring you the easy-to-click links you seem to enjoy, in case you haven’t it already!

Predator camouflaged

Predator camouflage is now fully functional... I don't know if you can see him, but he does see you!

– The rules had been simplified for many different reasons.

– It’s STRONGLY recommended that the Demo has 20 players or more.
Luffaren will be the judge, and will judge on the “Best Win” on his point of view, not the first one to be send.
– Last date to send the .DEM FILE inn is Friday 13th of May, 2011.
Luffaren prefers the people recording the demo to be spectating while following the main group, is not a must however.
– The .DEM FILE must include the whole Ultimate Round, from start to end.
– Include all the names of the people playing in the E-mail and/or Readme you send to him.
– E-mail to send the .DEM FILEs along with the player’s names is: predatorultimate2011@hotmail.com

“Hi everyone, I’m glad to announce that V2 of Predator Ultimate is finally released. The contest has already begun and will end Friday 13 of this 5th Month. The rules are pretty simple, you can check them on the devroom (brown room with buttons) in the map to see them. Since I’m something that Kaemon refers to a “slowpoke” I wont write much in this post. Main thing is already said, good luck and have fun.
PS: Alien Device hurts the ultimate boss now.”


This is a Slowpoke. Luffaren is one.

———- ———- ———- ———-Β Changes from V1.4 to V2 Β  ———- ———- ———- ———-

– Detailed further, added a couple of new visible things here and there.
– Added a new area available near Hyper C4 hold.
– Forced the normal boss route on normal difficulty, so the Predator is not skipped.
– Delayed zombie bridge on ultimate by 3 seconds.
– Increased HP of Ultimate Boss.
– Re-scaled/changed some textures.
– Added some more particle effects (including trippy-tunnel)
– Changed some placements/timings on some teleports.
– Changed some holdspots on Hyper/Ultimate difficulties.
– Changed an attack on Hyper Predator, his twirl attack now has increased damage on close range. Stay away if you see him charging it!
– Slowed the elevator
– Removed teleport on Cliff Hold, zombies will now need to climb the vines if they fall down.
– Increased holdtime on the Normal/Hard end.
– Removed many invisible blockers/pushers/stoppers; sometimes allowing edging-noobs to ruin the rounds >:)
– Fixed the impulsor trigger.
– Fixed some exploits.
– Polished some timings.
– Fixed an issue when the predator skipped ragemode, or it being too short.
– Improved the predators invisibility, now it’s a skin instead of a shadow (thanks to Kaemon)
– Rollermines don’t fall off the Boss-Platform on Ultimate Predator anymore. Care with them!
– Spawned less rollermines on Hyper/Ultimate bosses.
– Now the alien device damages the Ultimate Predator.
– Changed “Zombie Kill” to “Zombie Teleport” below the helipad.

    LUff.. I think you’re rushing to get to the Challenge but since it came out, we need some days to check the map out, come up with strategies, etc.
    It would be better if we started on Friday but.. its already begun T_T
    Its crap to live in Aus.. IC is not participating (I think..)

    He kinda rushed it indeed… He knows I could have told people on the blog (since almost every community has a couple persons checking it by time to time afaik) to get ready; but he was like: I already released.

    But worry not, he will burn in hell for his sins.
    Also… I think everyone should participate and try; it’s for the fun. It’s hilariously hard, and Predator’s HP is so over the top… XD

    One thing it’s true: You tried for good…
    After time and both extends ran out, Ripperz changed to the map back again after some minutes… When I got kicked for slot reservation (I was spectating after diying first vs Predator for the third time in a row) the scores were something like 3-16 or more… XD

    Anyway… May the most epic victory win! Up to Luffaren to decide upon the demos. Not my problem! >:D

    Sorry for wasting your time, but i have two questions regarding the tourment.
    The names display, will be the only the final winners, or all in the server?
    And the alien can kill zombies, so there was a round lost (win by defeat of the all zombies) because all zombies died do to alien, is it a bit unfair?

    That alien loves trolling victories… He shouldn’t be abble to damage zombies imo. XD

    Also… You are not wasting anyone’s time, here is a valid place to ask those kind of questions. Just wait for Luffaren to come online, since it’s his tournament, not mine πŸ˜›

    There is still two things that I found that I think should be fixed.
    There is a place where the zombies can get to a place faster by jumping off a cliff and getting ported.
    Also I found a glitch where at the last boss it is hard for him to hit you and he just keeps running into you making it easy for everyone to shoot him.
    The same thing happens when a ct is on a moving platform.

    Yes, there are also some kind of things that are prob needs to be done, eg the part when the Predator is just walking to the Platform when a CT is on it.
    Luff should have waited for a week or so then start it after the release >=(

    The winning community get to design their own texture/”plate” which i’ll put in the map (spawn, end and maybe some other places) so it’s up to the community to decide that. I would still recommend you to write down the names on everyone playing on the server, since everybody tried.

    Yes the alien can kill the zombies in the end, it also depends on the servers zombie hp which might screw over the players sometimes.

    Also alot of players have been complaining about the boss being impossible, but let me assure you all that it isn’t! The predator will adjust his hp to how many players entered the bossplatform (200 shared hits to begin with + 50 + 60 for each player)
    so it’s really important that too many doesn’t die in the first stages because he’ll practically become harder for each kill he makes.
    Also remember to use the alien device, it sure helps.

    I spectated on SG yesterday and they made it through ragemode altough they lost during the climb event (zombie bridge)
    The reason i released V2 instead of V1_5 was that i didn’t see much to change during the test of v1_5, so instead of releasing another version and then release V2 giving you much more to download i skipped right to V2. Altough i should have Made a post ready for the blog. Im such a slowpoke…

    There aint much i could do about that because the predator targets 1 CT at a time, but i allow it though since the ragemode will surely kill the human standing on the platform (when he fires the blue plasma balls of death)

    10 Days isnt long enough for the contest imo. Also, im guessing you will take into account the settings on the server, as it is alot easier to win on some servers, then it is on others.

  16. Mah gad, 160 minutes in a row at Steamgamers, that was insane : D. The final score was 3 – 23 (I think). That was hyper played, well, ultimate played, what did you do to the Predator balls? they are targeting me everyround!
    Last fight is funny, I was crouch, aiming the motherfucking Predator in rage mode thinking “that’s the Round, he can’t target me and shoot plasma, he didn’t see me”, then… one standing CT passed in front on me, predator in plasma turned 180ΒΊ, and then… double kill …. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUU.
    Awesome map, I think we created a new type of Ze, the zombie escape challenges; you feel you must finish them : D I hope to see more normal ZE too, I’m happy to see that all map types are played at servers πŸ™‚ equally

    – All rounds triggering (playable): 100%
    – Create the ending : 100%
    – Detailing (includes illumination) round 1: 100%
    – Detailing round 2 : 100%
    – Detailing round 3 : 100%
    – Detailing round 4 : 95%

    – Put the barricade items (already designed): 15% (2:30 h)
    – Finish the Gandalf and horse items: 0% (1:30 h due animations and sh**)
    – Finish the two special items (item lvl 4, item lvl 5): 50% (1:30 h)
    – Extreme mode : 10% (20 min)

    I can see the light at the end of the tunnel *o*

    I noticed this glitch just a few days ago and i allow players to use it. There are no real rules in this contest, altough i WILL judge by the best win so it’s up to the communities to decide that.

    Are you killing the Alien, or just avoiding it? (It shouldn’t be avoidable, the same as he shouldn’t kill zombies, XD)

    Hi all,

    I’m reading this blog for quite some time now, and let me start by saying you guys are real artists. The maps you create are the best of the best and I’m real happy you are mapping for Zombie Escape and not some other lame mod πŸ™‚

    However, I’ve got a question. Minis Tirith will have server configuration files, but predator doesn’t. With what settings in mind was this map created? Teleport zombie back to spawn for instance? The server I play on has noreload and pretty fast zombies to even that out, so the overall game play is pretty fast. Even though predator was probably created for servers with reload and slow zombies, what settings do you recommend?

    Just read you right now. I will tell Luffaren to come here to answer you tomorrow.
    I’m not sure what he thinkgs are the best settings; but I can tell you that the early versions of Predator were being tested on ICann’t, wich had fast humans and super fast zombies, getting teleported back to spawn.
    When he started testing the map on other servers, the Zombie Stoppers (needed vs the fast IC zombies) were over the top; and the spawn system wasn’t supporting those servers that spawned the zombie in the middle of the humans (old versions only had 1 path at once on the begging, instead of 2).

    So Luffaren acomodated the map so it’s more user-friendly for the servers that don’t teleport the zombies back; but the map was made taking the Tele-Zombies-Back into account.
    Nowadays supports better having the zombies spawning in the group; but can become really hard really fast, specially on Hyper/Ultimate, holding the first elevator.

    About Reload… It was (as mentioned) originally tested on IC, wich has reload, but greatly increased ammo clips. This made the first versions (specially noticeable on Hyper Boss) un-winable in normal ammo servers…
    Now is balanced so it’s wanted difficulty is that you can see on servers with normal ammo. No-Reload and Increased-Ammo-Clips will have Boss-Fights easier than planed.

    Also you probably noticed that Predator supports and encourages Zombie Respawning.
